This went down pretty much exactly as Isa describes it in her little description of this soup: farmers market, lots of produce, lazy Sunday, etc. I got to make
corn stock for this soup, which pleased me in a highly nerdy way - you get to use all the veggies bits that you wouldn't normally use, like corn cobs and carrot tops, and then after simmering for a couple of hours, you have yummy, yummy stock. (The stock tasted really good, too, it was super sweet from the corn.) I did manage to get corn all over the kitchen cutting it off the cob, but that's the way it goes sometimes. The chowder itself was really good, it had a great texture and was sweet from the corn and really fresh tasting, with a nice bite of fennel every now and then.
I was all excited for a little bit because I thought that I had made this from entirely local food, but then I remembered that we couldn't find local celery. Once more, celery ruins everything.
